Another famous attraction in Coron is a wildlife sanctuary established in 1976 where visitors can meet several rare species of wild animals. The Calauit Safari Park was built under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos with the purpose of translocating African animals to the country.

The safari, covering an area of more than 3,700 hectares, houses indigenous species of animals such as the Calamian deer, Palawan bearded pig, and the Philippine porcupine.

Just like what I’ve mentioned earlier, Coron is known all over the world as a premier wreck diving spot, especially abandoned wreckages of World War II boats and ships. Aside from the island’s undeniable beauty featuring white sand beaches, crystalline waters, limestone cliffs, and thriving biodiversity, wreck diving and snorkeling is really Coron’s strength.

Some of the most iconic diving spots and shipwrecks include some of the Japanese supply fleets bombed by the US troops. These are Irako, Akitsushima, and Okikawa Maru, the largest and by far the most popular shipwreck in Coron. Okikawa Maru sunk in an upright position, making it very accessible even for beginners.
